In January of 2006, Kris came to us as a scared, skinny, horribly abused rescue that wasn’t at all sure that we wouldn’t be the same as his last home.
He broke our hearts the first night, when letting him out before bedtime, he went to a corner of the yard and curled up in a ball as if we were kicking him out to sleep with the plants. It took some time (and a well-timed tackle by me the night he ran out the front door, scared and thinking to escape to take his chances on his own) but when he realized he could trust us, and he could count on his next meal, he grew into a friendly, goofy muppet that made us laugh almost every day.
He was loved and cuddled by everyone who met him. Kris was there for us when we lost Harley and when I lost Promise. He helped us deal with that pain and healed our hearts. He was there when we came back from seeing my grandmother in hospice. And helped us heal after losing her, as well. Through it all, he was a goofball that made everyone who met him laugh. His helicopter tail never did lift him off the ground but maybe it helped him fly at the bridge. I’m sure Harley and Promise and his grandmother were there to greet him when he arrived. Thank you Kris, for being the best muppet ever.
So sorry for your loss; it seems our animals leave some of the biggest holes in our hearts when they leave.
